The DVGW research effort is organized as a network including not only the DVGW Water Technology Centre and the two DVGW research institutes at the University of Karlsruhe (Engler-Bunte Institut) and the Technical University of Hamburg-Harburg but also the other institutions with which DVGW cooperates for specific projects. Projects are increasingly organized as a joint effort allowing each of the institutes involved to make the most effective contribution possible. This network approach has also been adopted at the European level. Through its membership in GERG, the European Gas Research Group, the DVGW has access to research partners from 11 European countries.
