European Forum Gas, 18th and 19th June 2009
Following the successful previous editions, Marcogaz together with Sedigas, is glad to invite you to attend the 7th edition of European Forum Gas which will be held this year in Madrid in the renown North Convention Centre of IFEMA.
During this Forum Experts and Executives are focusing on the most actual and interesting issues of the Gas Industry.
The issues which will be covered by the Conference are:
Quality and safety of gas installations: The quality and safety of customers’ gas installations, including gas appliances, are generally ensured through installations work carried out by competent installers complying with technical rules, maintenance and inspection regimes. The competency of installers and inspectors is to maintain and to train. EFG 2009 raises the question: will it be possible in the future to define a common European scheme for competency assessment for gas operatives?
High Efficiency Gas Appliances for a sustainable energy use: In order to mitigate the climate change and also to guarantee the security of energy supply the EU policy is currently fostering the use of renewable sources of energy and the improvement of energy efficiency. Which is the response of the Gas Industry to match this new challenges imposed by the EU policy makers? Which are the new appliances which will allow the Gas Industry to keep the gas in the house of the future?
Best materials for a safe and reliable gas grid: Also in times of liberalisation, the Gas Industry achieves continuously improvements in safety and reliability of gas systems and activities. To continue this successful story, a particular attention shall be given to maintain the existing high level requirements and procedures for materials used in the construction of gas grids and the improvement of the quality of new materials and technologies for the future. Which is the role of standardization in defining a common level of safety and quality requirements for the gas installations in Europe?
Technical challenges due to liberalisation: EU rules for the common natural gas market and related increasing competition pose new challenges to gas network operators to ensure the achieved high level of safety: increasing cost reductions in operation of gas systems, investment in new gas infrastructures become more and more sensitive issues; likewise the growing use of non-conventional gases and their injection into gas grids. In this context a current GERG R&D project on hydrogen injection and its impact on safety will be presented.
Issue of the Forum is: how safety of gas distribution grids can be continuously evaluated and controlled?
