G 652 "Natural gas vehicle refuelling appliances and natural gas vehicle refuelling systems"

The new DVGW Code of Practice G 652 "Natural gas vehicle refuelling appliances and natural gas vehicle refuelling systems" covers the gap that has arisen by removing small natural gas systems for vehicle refuelling from Code of Practice G 651/VdTÜV M 510 "Natural gas vehicle refuelling stations", as the latter's requirements that clearly increased between its first and second publication cannot be met by small natural gas vehicle refuelling appliances and natural gas vehicle refuelling systems without natural gas reservoirs. It applies to the planning, construction, equipment, installation, testing, commissioning and operation of natural gas vehicle refuelling appliances and natural gas vehicle refuelling systems, which are connected to and supplied by the public gas supply network. It addresses both the manufacturer, who with this technical rule receives fundamental data for the design of systems and system components, and the operator for whom the minimum requirements for a safe operation are illustrated. At the same time, it serves as test specification for testing the natural gas vehicle refuelling appliance or natural gas vehicle refuelling system. This Code of Practice demonstrates the state-of-the-art technology, which is to ensure that natural gas vehicle refuelling appliances or natural gas vehicle refuelling systems are safe to operate in the long run. As the approval and/or acceptance procedures for natural gas vehicle refuelling appliances or natural gas vehicle refuelling systems differ depending on the place of installation, manufacturer and operator should coordinate their efforts in good time. In addition, it should be noted that the quality of the natural gas in the network does not yet comply nationwide and at all times with the requirements of standard DIN 51624, which are stricter compared to those of Code of Practice G 260, and with which the natural gas must comply when it is dispensed to a vehicle.

GW 134 "IT-supported maintenance under integration of GIS"

In modern asset management systems, condition-based maintenance has become a fixed component of the maintenance strategy. The DVGW body of rules and regulations adequately accommodates this development with the definition of maintenance-relevant data (see DVGW Code of Practice G 402 and W 402), especially since the IT-tools required for this purpose are already available. Companies make use of different software solutions, which in some cases are still operated separate from each other. However, with regard to data management and data processing, these must be coordinated when a consistent IT-supported maintenance process is to be introduced in the enterprise. In this context, process-oriented approaches seem the most suitable bases for defining the necessary specifications applying to the data management, processing and evaluation of each of the different IT solutions (e.g. ERP, GIS and pipeline network monitoring applications). In practical experience it has proven of value to graphically depict the results with the aid of geographic information systems and to derive further steps from this. DVGW technical standard GW 134 shows ways for the conceptional implementation of an IT-supported maintenance under inclusion of geographical information systems, which are to serve as orientation for planning and implementing company-specific solutions. In addition, the DVGW bodies of rules and regulations containing maintenance-specific specifications are presented in table form in GW 134.

W 122 "Closing structures for water catchment wells"

In 1979, the DVGW body of rules and regulations for the first time dealt with "Closing structures for drilled wells". The edition of 1998 was converted into W 122. Since that time, the technical and material-specific requirements have clearly been enhanced so that a basic revision of W 122 had become necessary. Apart from taking into account the hygienic requirements on the materials used that come into contact with the untreated water, the constructional principles were also subjected to scrutiny. In the process, apart from operational requirements, flood water protection and the protection of the system against third-party damage have been awarded greater importance compared to the 1998 version. Prefabricated concrete and reinforced concrete components as well as complete prefabricated manholes and inspection chambers are increasingly used in building construction for cost reasons. Corresponding recommendations in this regard were included to ensure their proper function during operation. As in the last version, the informative annex contains examples of the different designs which may be used as basis for planning. Objection period ends on 01/12/2011

W 249, draft version "Elimination of arsenic, nickel and uranium during water treatment"

Occasionally, arsenic, nickel and uranium in water that is used for drinking water abstraction reach concentrations which may require the elimination of these substances. With the amended Drinking Water Ordinance that will come into force on 1 November 2011, the limits for arsenic (10 µg/l) and nickel (20 µg/l) which are already valid today are supplemented by a limit of 10 µg/l for uranium. This Code of Practice describes the most important regulations that have to be taken into account for assessing the necessity of technical treatment measures to reduce the concentration of these substances and for the selection of suitable treatment measures. It is assumed that measures have been examined and if necessary taken to prevent or minimise the introduction of such substances into the water and that these measures have not been successful. Such measures are referred to in the Code of Practice, but are not dealt with in detail. This Code of Practice was prepared by the project group "Elimination of anorganic substance"" in the Technical Committee "Water treatment methods". It serves as basis for the elimination of arsenic, nickel and uranium within the scope of central drinking water treatment. It can analogously be used for small units according to DIN 2001. The Code of Practice does not apply to water treatment in drinking water installations. For disposal of the arising residues, reference is made to the Code of Practice series DVGW W 221. W 616 "Sensor-supported operation monitoring of pump systems in the drinking water supply"

The technical standard W 616 is applicable for the planning and use of sensor-supported monitoring facilities for centrifugal pump systems in the drinking water supply. To ensure a reliable and economic operation of pump systems, sensor-supported operation monitoring is becoming increasingly more important. It may have the following objectives:

The information gained with the aid of sensor-supported operation monitoring forms an important basis for condition diagnoses (condition recording and comparison with reference values), early detection of malfunctions and a condition-based maintenance. The information in technical standard W 616 is to assist users with the efficient use of modern sensor technology. Possible strategies for sensor-supported operation monitoring are described. In addition, essential measurements that are important for operation monitoring as well as suitable measurement positions are dealt with. Moreover, requirements on measuring systems are defined. The technical standard is completed with application examples and economic efficiency analyses.
