IFAT in Munich is the world's leading trade fair for environmental technologies and international innovation platform for the sustainable use of resources. More than 3,000 exhibitors from all over the world will present their solutions and products for water, wastewater, waste and raw materials management to the approximately 135,000 visitors. As a partner of IFAT, the DVGW is actively contributing its expertise in the drinking water sector to the conceptual design and organisation of the trade fair in order to further sharpen IFAT's water management profile. 

As a competence network at the interface of science, business and politics, we actively shape the development of the energy and water industry. We see IFAT as an innovative industry platform for international water-related exchange.

The DVGW has been a partner of IFAT since 2016 and is actively involved as an ideal sponsor in organising the leading industry event for environmental technologies. DVGW excursions during the IFAT

Take a look behind the scenes at the drinking water supply!

During the IFAT 2018, the DVGW offers two excursions in German and English. The number of participants is limited and the participation fee is 35,00 € per person.

Drinking water storage tank Forstenrieder Park

As one of the most modern drinking water storage facilities in Germany, the elevated tank of the Munich municipal utility Stadtwerke München holds a total of 130,000 m³. The underground structure serves to store fresh, untreated spring water that is supplied to Munich and the surrounding area.

16 and 17 May 2018 - 13.00 hours until 14.30 hours

Drinking water is one of the best controlled foods. The qualified employees of the SWM laboratory ensure that Munich's water is of consistently high quality. Here, more than 1,200 samples are analysed monthly using state-of-the-art analysis equipment.

Visitors can also experience pipeline construction work on gas and water grids live. Teams of fitters will implement the manual steps in compliance with standards and regulations and answer questions on material, technology and application.

At the University Challenge, an international competition, 18 teams of students compete in various disciplines. The aim is to find creative solutions for integrated water resources management at academic level.
