The 20th pipeline technology conference in Berlin in May was a resounding success with more than 1,000 participants from 60 countries and delegations from 100+ pipeline operating companies. Pipeline construction experts discussed pressing issues such as strategies for managing ageing pipeline infrastructure, including modernisation, conversion and decommissioning. The handling of future fuels such as hydrogen and biogas were also on the agenda, as were the challenges posed by CO2 pipelines and digital twins in the pipeline industry. Of course, the latest research findings and their impact on day-to-day work were also discussed.
The DVGW was present with a stand and a series of presentations. The presentations dealt with hydrogen topics such as ‘Construction, conversion and operation of steel gas pipelines for hydrogen’ and "Hydrogen core network: Challenges and opportunities for all network operators‘ and the challenges of setting up a ’CO₂ transport infrastructure for CCS and CCU‘. At the end of the event, DVGW CEO Prof Gerald Linke gave a presentation on the question ’European Pipeline Outlook: Will the German Hydrogen Strategy shape Europe?".
All DVGW presentations are available for you to read.
