Ausbau der Wasserstoffversorgung und Stärkung der Widerstandsfähigkeit: Das sind die Kernthemen der diesjährigen European Hydrogen Week. Informieren Sie sich vom 26. - 28.
Dr. Sabine Malzkuhn (DVGW-EBI) beteiligt sich am B2B Forum, Session 1: “Ports as hydrogen gateways – infrastructure and bunkering strategy”. Ihr Thema: “H2 Import Options & H2 Readiness of LNG Terminals” (27. Oktober, 10 - 11 Uhr)
Abstract:
The transformation of Europe’s energy system requires large-scale imports of hydrogen to complement limited domestic production capacity. While transport by pipelines within Europe and from the MENA region remain significantly cheaper, this picture changes for transport costs for long-distance imports (>5,000 km). This underscores the strategic relevance of maritime hydrogen supply routes and import via port and terminal infrastructure. The German LNG Acceleration Act sets a binding regulatory framework: LNG terminals built under the act intended to operate beyond 31 December 2043 may only be approved for continued operation if they can handle climate-neutral hydrogen and its derivatives.
Recent DVGW studies as well as the TransHyde LNG2Hydrogen project assess hydrogen import options based on ship transport and their compatibility with LNG terminal infrastructure. The evaluated vectors include liquid hydrogen (LH₂), ammonia (NH₃), LOHC, methanol (MeOH), and synthetic methane (Green LNG/SNG). The comparison considers energy demand, technology readiness, handling characteristics, infrastructure requirements, and the degree to which each carrier can be integrated into modified LNG terminals and infrastructure. Further the efficiency, cost and technical readiness is assessed for each vector across the complete transport chain.
Ein besonderes Highlight wird zudem das DVGW Get-together, zusammen mit Vertretern des European Research Institute for Gas and Energy Innovation (ERIG) und Ready4H2 am Abend des 27. Oktober im Au Bassin sein.
