Solutions straight from the horse's mouth! First, you will learn everything about the current challenges facing the German water industry in a keynote speech. Afterwards, you will accompany us to the solution providers on site.
How do we tackle the challenges of climate change, cybercrime, and aging infrastructure? What solutions are already available today – and who is driving them forward?
Join us on one of our solution tours on the latest topics:
Solution Tour Digitalization in Drinking Water Supply: How can we improve network controllability, safety and security and efficiency?
Solution Tour Analysis and Drinking Water Treatment Methods: How can we detect or eliminate water pollutants or prevent them from getting into the water?
Solution Tour Maintaining Infrastructure & Climate Adaption: How to tackle leaks, ageing and climate-induced damage?
All Solution Tours start at the Water Stage, West Entrance, right next to the DVGW stand.
Each tour begins with a keynote presentation that summarises the current challenges and opens up new perspectives. We will then guide you directly to selected solution providers who, with innovative approaches, technologies and projects, offer answers to the pressing questions of our time.

Experience state-of-the-art technologies and solution approaches that address the challenges for drinking-water supply. OEMs and start-ups present their ideas and discuss them with experts, with a focus on practical applications.
Site-specific inspection methods provide essential information for targeted maintenance measures in the drinking water distribution system.
Join us for a first-hand account of current possibilities and new developments, showing how the ‘invisible treasure’ that is the drinking water distribution system is made visible through technological methods, enabling potential points of damage to be identified. Another exciting aspect is the use of artificial intelligence, which analyses the large volumes of data from site-specific condition assessments to produce a detailed evaluation.
TechLIFT begins with a brief overview of the requirements for non-destructive inspection technologies for drinking water pipes. Individual methods will then be presented and discussed interactively with the audience.

How can cities, counties, and municipalities make key public services—from drinking water and wastewater management to coping with extreme weather—more resilient in the future? Which energy strategies are sustainable?
The DVGW and the DWA (German Association for Water, Wastewater and Waste) are discussing the impacts of climate change and the security situation together with the leading municipal associations (DST, DSTGB, DLT) and the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Climate Action, Nature Conservation, and Nuclear Safety (BMUKN). The focus is on necessary adjustments to public infrastructure, political framework conditions, and existing best practices.
Accompanying in-depth sessions will take place at the association booths, along with solution tours on selected topics.
Take this opportunity to deepen your knowledge, gather inspiration, and network with colleagues and experts.
7 May:
Opening of Local Government Day: 9:30 – 9:45 am on the WaterStage, West Entrance
Panel discussion: Resilient Local Government Day: 10:30 – 11:15 am, Blue Stage, Hall B2
Our tip:
Ever since the introduction of the Municipal Heating Plan, local authorities have also had to address the topic of hydrogen. We provide information and guidance to help you make informed decisions through our specialist presentations on hydrogen (see also Spotlight Area H2). We would be particularly delighted if you could attend the following events:
All hydrogen presentations will take place on the Hydrogen Stage, Hall A4
This Spotlight Area focusses on climate-resilient urban development and sustainable drinking water supply. Here, visitors will find an inspiring place for exchange, innovation and concrete solutions that are closely intertwined with all DVGW and DWA activities. Municipality and utility representatives as well as planners and decision-makers are invited to take an active hand in shaping the sustainable future of water management.
On Monday, 4 May, the Spotlight Area Water will open its doors at 2:15 pm.
You will find the Spotlight Area Water at the West Entrance, next to the DVGW joint stand.
Where does hydrogen fit in at a water trade fair? Many municipalities have a new take on water and energy. Find out how municipalities store renewable energy as hydrogen using electrolysis, how they use different water sources for the purpose, and how they gradually transform their infrastructure to make it fit for hydrogen, simultaneously exploring new avenues for the use of hydrogen across a range of sectors, including heating, industry and mobility. Exciting presentations and discussions to look forward to will be delivered and held in Spotlight Area H2.
Opening of the H2 Spotlight Area by Hubert Aiwanger, Bavarian Minister of State for Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy, on Monday, 4 May, 1.30–2.20 pm

Experience the following at the H2 Spotlight Area:
"Hydrogen offers local authorities and businesses promising opportunities on the path to climate neutrality. It can be produced through water electrolysis and electricity. Renewable energies can thus be stored and used where molecules, rather than electrons, are required. Various water sources are available for the process which – once purified – can be utilised, be it groundwater or sewage sludge. The hydrogen can be fed into the local distribution network and used, amongst other things, as fuel for municipal vehicles or as a means of production for grid-connected industry – fully in line with a well-functioning circular economy and local energy transition.
The DVGW has completed the regulatory work required to adapt gas networks to hydrogen and has also developed conversion guidelines for the industry. The DVGW’s VerifHy database also provides reliable information on the hydrogen compatibility of components. The transformation of municipal infrastructure towards climate neutrality is thus possible. However, to fully exploit the potential of hydrogen and make the energy system more resilient, it needs a firm place in municipal heat planning as a key component for the integration of energy sectors."
Gerald Linke, Chairman of the DVGW Executive Board
Our Hydrogen Welcome Lounge and the DVGW / DWA Water Welcome Lounge bring together decision-makers from the worlds of business, technology and politics to develop concrete strategies for a climate-resilient and sustainable infrastructure in the energy and water sectors, as well as for the long-term preservation of high-quality drinking water. Look forward to exciting discussions and in-depth exchanges with leading figures from the industry – practical and solution-oriented.
Look forward to insightful political updates from
This will be followed by a moderated discussion on the topic “Resilience and safety for water management infrastructure”
The moderators are Dr Dirk Waider, Vice-President for Water at the DVGW, and Prof Uli Paetzel, President of the DWA.
DVGW and DWA Welcome Lounge Water: Monday, 4 May, 1:15–2:15 pm, Water Stage, West Entrance
Afterwards, we invite you to a networking session with snacks and drinks.
Welcome Lounge Energy: Tuesday, 5 May, 12:00 noon – 1:00 pm, Water Stage, West Entrance
The DVGW and DWA Water Innovation Circle (WIC) presents the latest research findings of practical relevance for the water cycle. Three different sessions will focus on either water-conscious urban development through re-use of water, regional phosphorus recycling from wastewater or the thermal use of surface waters.
