The Technical Rule for Liquefied Petroleum Gas will also apply in Slovenia in future. To this end, the German Technical and Scientific Association for Gas and Water (DVGW) and the German Liquefied Petroleum Gas Association (DVFG) have signed a cooperation agreement with the Slovenian liquefied petroleum gas association GIZ UNP (Gospodarsko združenje za utekočinjeni plin). The licence grants GIZ UNP the right to translate the regulations into Slovenian and make them available to industry professionals in printed and digital form. The Technical Rule for Liquefied Petroleum Gas enables the qualified installation and safe operation of liquefied petroleum gas systems in accordance with the highest technical requirements. “The cooperation with Slovenia shows that the DVGW's technical regulations are highly recognized as a safety standard even beyond Germany's borders,” explains Markus Lermen, Head of Vocational Training at the DVGW.

This is already the second DVGW technical regulation for gas installations to be translated in accordance with Slovenian regulations. The Slovenian Association of Gas Distribution Companies GIZ DZP (Gospodarsko interesno združenje za distribucijo zemeljskega plina), which has been a DVGW member since 2010, has already translated and published the Technical Rule for Gas Installations DVGW TRGI 2008 and the current version from 2018 into Slovenian. The Slovenian translation of the TRGI enjoys a high level of professional recognition among gas network operators, gas installers, engineering firms, and the Slovenian authorities.

The new cooperation with GIZ UNP builds on the already established collaboration between the DVGW and Slovenian professional associations. “The positive response to the translation and application of the TRGI by GIZ DZP has paved the way for the introduction of the Technical Rule for Liquefied Petroleum Gas,” said Aida Buco-Smajic, Gas Technologies and Applications Officer at the DVGW. “We are delighted that the high German safety standards are now also being more widely adopted in Slovenia and are contributing to the harmonization of technical requirements in Europe.”

The introduction of the TRF in Slovenia is a further step toward the Europe-wide harmonization of technical safety standards in the field of liquefied gas—a win for professionals, companies, and consumers alike.
